  • MAH JONG EVENTS

    Meet new friends and learn to play a fun game at our weekly Open Play every Tuesday from 5–7 PM — we usually have an experienced player or two to help out, though that’s not always guaranteed. We provide 3 tables, 3 mats, and a set of tiles, so just come and have fun!

    SPECIAL EVENTS:

    July 9 — Guided Play with an experienced player offering tips while you play (11 seats; $10 per person; 1:00–3:30 PM).

    July 16 — Beginner lesson with Ann Arbor Mahjong from Noon–3:00 PM.

  • BOOK CLUBS

    Original Book Club meets the first Thursday of every month at 6:00 PM and is currently full to the brim, but Bard’s Book Club gathers the second Thursday of the month and is welcoming new members — now’s your chance to get out of the house, have tons of fun, and enjoy a great read. Want to start a new club? Bring your copy and your thoughts: we’re happy to host new groups (genre, author-focused, language-specific, etc.). Tell us the meeting frequency and day/time that work for you and we’ll help find a regular slot. All meetings take place at The Talebearer Bookstore.

  • AUTHOR SIGNINGS & EVENTS

    July 11 — Cans for Kitties Bring 4 or more cans of cat food to donate and get $2 off your purchase (valid with a $20 minimum). Help local cats in need while you shop our curated selection of fiction, nonfiction, and gifts. It’s an easy way to give back: donate, save, and support animal shelters in our community.

    Local Author Weekends — July 18 & July 25 Meet talented local writers, get your books signed, and enjoy special event offers across the store. Discover new voices, pick up signed copies, and chat with authors about their work. Special in-store promotions, book bundles, and exclusive swag will be available those weekends.
